Lord, our God, we humbly ask Your divine blessings upon Your servants in this Senate Chamber. With Your prophet Micah, we humbly pray: "What shall I bring to the lord, the God of heaven, when I come to worship him? Shall I bring the best calves as offerings to him? Shall I offer him my first-born child? No, says the lord. What he requires of us is this: to do justice, to show mercy, and to live in humble fellowship with our God." (Micah 6:6ff.)

Lord, our God, supreme lawgiver, help us as lawmakers to be just and merciful in our applications and to live Your concern for those most in need. Bless us, Lord our God, with good health; keep our families in Your loving care and bless our state with peace, prosperity, and good fellowship. We ask this in Your name. Amen.
