The Senate met at 3:28 p.m. pursuant to adjournment and was called to order by Senator Bettencourt.

Senator Parker offered the invocation as follows:
Dear heavenly Father, thank You for this extraordinary day, all the blessings, all the gifts that You give us. We just ask, Father God, that You will guide us, that You will help us to make the right decisions for Texas in each and every area of public policy, that You would give us strength in these final days of the session. We are so extraordinarily blessed in this state and in this nation. We just ask, Father God, that each day our actions be pleasing to You. Guide our steps, guide our actions, guide our fellowship as we work to serve the people of this great state. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Senator Whitmire moved that the reading of the Journal of the proceedings of the previous day be dispensed with and the Journal be approved as printed.
The motion prevailed without objection.
