Presiding Officer:  Senator Perry, for what purpose?

Senator Perry:  This is for the author.

Presiding Officer:  Do you yield, Senator Hall?

Senator Hall:  Yes, Sir.

Senator Perry:  I want to make sure—

Presiding Officer:  You're recognized, Senator Perry.

Senator Perry:  —I want to just make sure this is election day only. That if you have open early voting like in my community, we have grocery stores during the early voting periods where you can pretty much vote anywhere those grocery stores are available or other access, but is this election day only you go back to your precincts?

Senator Hall:  No, which, this is on both of them, yeah.

Senator Perry:  If it's not election day voting only that you back to your precincts, which is way Lubbock does it, on election day you lose the privilege of picking a place that's handy and you're forced to your precinct. We're doing exactly what this bill does, I thought. I want to confirm, this is for election day only that you will show up at your precinct voting place versus your early vote. If not, I would hope that you'd take an amendment to secure that. If it does, then let's make sure for the record of intent that it does. And if you don't want to do that, then I'm okay with that. I just need to know.

Senator Hall:  This only affects election day voting.

Senator Perry:  Only election day voting. So, on the early votes they do whatever they've been doing with no change, and my community does that, so we're good. For intent purposes, and I hate to suggest it, but I am going to ask for this conversation to be in the Journal. Alright? So, thank you, Sir, for that clarification, and I'm sorry to have stumped you. I was just sitting here listening. I like the way it works in Lubbock and I didn't want to change that. So, appreciate it.
